Indoor, outdoor overhaul

The owners of this South Minneapolis 1928 Tudor felt they had two choices: move to a house that would be a better fit for their growing family, or remain in their home and remodel. They adored their home, their community, and the ideal location, and decided staying-put and creating new spaces to suit their needs was the best option. A 300-square foot addition proved to offer ample opportunities. Removing an interior wall created space for a highly functional, cheery kitchen and new dining area. We added a much-needed new bathroom in the basement. And the new screened-in porch, deck, and wide steps to the backyard offered a spacious new natural retreat. Additionally, the porch’s wrap around one corner of the house provided more daylight, and a peek of the front yard and surroundings. And for a special touch, we built a custom-made porch swing. The changes brought blended, versatile spaces that offer a seamless transition between rooms and from the indoors to the outdoors. By being open to reimagining their home, this family now enjoys a host of new amenities and improved floor plans while continuing to live in the neighborhood they love.
